There are three scenarios that would require the completion of an approved remedial course:
-
Applicants who have failed the NCLEX three consecutive times will require a letter to begin the remedial course. To obtain a letter, please email MQA.NursingAppStatus@flhealth.gov. Applicants will be notified by the Licensure Unit of this requirement.
-
Applicants who do not hold an active license and have not practiced in the past five years, and are applying for licensure by endorsement based on having previously passed the State Board Test Pool Examination (SBTPE) or the NCLEX, will require a letter of authorization to complete the clinical component of the remedial course. An authorization letter is not required to begin the theory component of the remedial course. When progressing to the clinical portion of the course, a letter for approval to begin the clinical portion of the remedial course must be requested by the remedial course provider. The request should include the following: the name of the remedial program, the type of course by profession type, the number of completed theoretical hours, the name and location of your clinical site (facility’s name), and the anticipated date of completion of the clinical component.
-
Applicants who passed the NCLEX more than five years ago and were not issued a license, would be required to complete an approved remedial course in order to be issued a license (Rule 64B9-3.014, Florida Administrative Codes (FAC), effective April 10, 2022)
-
Upon completion of the approved Remedial Course, the Board office will only accept an electronically submitted letter of verification on the provider’s official letterhead. The letter must bear the remedial course director’s original signature as proof of authenticity.
